Paedocommunion.com – great resource and only one of its kind.
A Precious Feast, a Tangled Web: A Case for Welcoming Children at the Table by Syd Hielema – noteworthy because Hielema comes from a different perspective (Christian Reformed Church) than the usual paedocommunion suspects.
Divided at the Communion Rail – Jamey Bennet has a gift for putting theology into plain terms. Don’t read this, however, if you’re overly sensitive or have a bad heart. He is, after all, from California.
“Daddy, Why Was I Excommunicated?” – Peter Leithart’s brief, but penetrating, refutation of Leonard J. Coppes. (Available from Biblical Horizons. See pg. 8 of their catalogue.)
The EPC takes a middle road position; they acknowledge that children come to faith at various ages and stages of life and they leave this responsibility to their parents. Their postion paper is not as tringent as the PCA/ OPC position, but it is not as “liberal” in the sense of a full covenant-communion position. At Rock Presbyterian, we have this to say regarding children coming to the table:
“We observe the Lord’s Supper the first Sunday of the Month. All baptized Christians are welcome to the Lord’s Table. Rock Church leaves the responsibility of children coming to the table to the heads of household. “
That is an interesting conclusion your church has come to regarding the issue of paedocommunion. I will read more about it. I like the decision to place the conviction with the fathers (i’m assuming fathers).
