Society for the Study of Eastern Orthodoxy and Evangelicalism

As a follow-up to the last post, I just learned that The Society for the Study of Eastern Orthodoxy and Evangelicalism is starting up again.  Anyone interested in being on the mailing list should contact Brock Bingaman at Loyola University Chicago: BBINGAM@LUC.EDU

Reformation Covenant Church

New church added to our “Churches” Page: Reformation Covenant Church of Southern Oregon (Medford, OR - CREC).  The liturgy is heavy on singing an chanting, but so is the Bible.  It looks challening and demanding, but worship is work.  It’s the Lord’s service, after all, where we actively serve the Lord.
But, we also need to [...]

King’s Meadow Endurance Team

This Christmas, consider supporting the King’s Meadow Endurance Team.  George Grant is an advocate for substantive, classical Reformed liturgy, and they have exciting plans to expand into a full liberal arts college!

Call for Editors & Writers

Although this site continues to get steady traffic, I find myself too busy in my family and my studies to develop it as it could be.  If anyone out there would like to contribute, either as a writer or an editor, let me know.  The original vision was for this site to be a resource, [...]

Academic Mission Opportunity

I came across an exciting mission opportunity for academics.  This organization sends Christian teachers into other countries, finding positions for them in secular universities.  A quote on their home-page says it all:

“The university is a clear-cut fulcrum with which to move the world. Change the university and you change the world,”
declared Dr. Charles Malik, former [...]

Grace Stillwater

Grace Stillwater (Stillwater, OK - PCA) has been added to our Churches list.  It looks like they’re thoughtfully combining ancient worship in the present context.  I especially like the fact that they print their Scripture readings in their bulletin.  My big complaint against traditional Anglicans is the silliness of juggling prayer-book, Bible, and Hymnal!
(For a scholarly [...]

Any Reformed Liturgical Churches Out There?

I’ve moved the list of churches who have some sort of Reformed/ liturgical service and given it a separate page (see “Churches” at top).  So far, we only have one Orthodox Presbyterian church listed, so let me know if there are any more of you out there!  I’ll add more CREC churches eventually, but I’m trying [...]

Parish Pres. & Providence - Reformed Liturgical Plants

Dr. George Grant is planting a new PCA church, Parish Presbyterian Church.  You can check out their liturgy here.

Let me also put in a plug for the church plant I’m helping with, Providence Church, if you happen to be in the Greenville area.

Sample Advent Liturgy

Lehigh Valley Presbyterian Church (PCA) has an excellent Advent liturgy, as well as some other resources for Reformed liturgical churches.
Don’t forget Rev. John Allen Bankson’s helpful contribution on Advent music.

Updated Links

Two churches listed on our Sample Liturgies page have updated their sites.  See John Knox Presbyterian’s brief explanation of liturgical worship, as well as a sample.
Oceanside URC also has a good explanation of their service, and a sample.
Redeemer Presbyterian Church also came to our attention recently.
